2. Made to order, or altered from stock?

This is the single biggest difference between boutiques in DFW. Many shops sell samples pulled from a rack and altered down (or up) to fit you. 4. Is pricing upfront, or full of upcharges?

Custom sizing, rush fees, and consultation charges can quietly double a quoted price. Ask what's included in the base price before your appointment, not after you've already said yes to a gown.

5. Do they carry designers you can't find everywhere else?

If every boutique in the Metroplex carries the same three national labels, it's harder to find something that feels like you. Look for a shop that carries exclusive or regional designers — it's usually a sign they care about curation, not just volume.

6. How far will you actually have to drive?

DFW is enormous. A boutique in the Dallas Design District is a reasonable drive from most of the Metroplex — Fort Worth, Arlington, Plano, Frisco, McKinney, Irving — usually 15 to 35 minutes. Don't let distance talk you out of the right shop; for most DFW brides, it's a shorter trip than they expect.

7. Does the experience feel unhurried?
